TIFFANI PENSON
FOR DISTRICT 2

Delivering Basic Services, Improving Public Safety Response Times, and Housing Our Neighbors:
Creating a Portland that Works for Everyone!

I know that Portland can be better. But for that to happen, Portland city government must do better.

As Portland has grown from a big town to the 26th largest city in the US, we have also seen our city’s challenges grow. We feel them every day, from crime to housing and homelessness to a receding sense of livability. Although Portlanders have voted to provide unprecedented tax dollars to address these issues, we are all frustrated at the lack of progress.

Making Portland safe and livable will be my top priority. We must improve our emergency response times by ensuring there are well trained, accountable and properly resourced public safety service areas; clean our streets, parks and community centers; and focus on housing for all Portlanders.

Our city budget needs to reflect what is important to Portlanders – delivering basic services transparently and with accountability.

I would be honored to be your top choice for District 2.

GET TO KNOW TIFFANI

A literal trailblazer – she was the first Blazer Ball Girl! – Tiffani Penson was raised and is rooted in Northeast Portland and lives in her family home in the Concordia neighborhood. Her father had a barbershop on what is now Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. that became a place where community gathered to share stories while waiting for the perfect haircut. Her mother worked her way up the ladder at Pacific Northwest Bell, retired early, and became a realtor, helping families find their forever home. Tiffani’s parents instilled in her both a commitment to community and a sense of problem-solving urgency to get things done.

Tiffani knows that elected leaders can have an impact.

When she served as Portland Community College Board Chair, PCC opened the new Opportunity Center at 42nd and Killingsworth that connects students, employers, and the community. It will have affordable housing and daycare services. It’s changing peoples’ lives.

The policies our elected leaders implement can make our neighborhoods and business districts safe places where we can live, work and play. This will be Tiffani’s priority on the City Council. A Portland that works for US!

THE LATEST FROM THE CAMPAIGN

  • Tiffani is a trailblazer at increasing excellence of learning for black and brown children. My experience working directly with Tiffani through KairosPDX on issues related to PPS has shown me that she possesses the rare ability to work through differences and find actual solutions to complex and intractable problems. I have seen Tiffani make a difference on the ground level, and I strongly endorse her for City Council, District 2.

    - Gary Hollands, Board Chair, Portland Public Schools

  • Portland's future needs Tiffani Penson to protect it. After collaborating with Tiffani for almost two decades professionally, personally, and in her deep and relentless work on behalf of community, I have witnessed first-hand her commitment to the city and people of Portland. Born and raised here, she is rooted in its success, knows its strengths and weaknesses, and cares for business, government, its safety and, above all, the people that make her hometown of Portland the special place it is. We need someone smart and no nonsense on the council. Vote for this leader.

    - Marcus Mundy, Non-Profit Leader

  • I’ve always known Tiffani Penson to be a champion for small businesses in Portland. Tiffani has fostered many opportunities for my LGBTQ+ owned business and has been encouraging through difficult times. Her thorough understanding of the City of Portland and her deep connection to communities that are often ignored would make Tiffani a huge asset to our next City Council.

    - Martha Pellegrino, Founder, Brava Point

  • I have personally witnessed Tiffani’s commitment to minority and women-owned businesses. In her role as Supplier Diversity Officer, Tiffani worked tirelessly to make sure minority businesses had access to information, contracting opportunities, and business technical assistance. She has been instrumental with helping minority- and women- owned businesses navigate the City’s bureaucracy, which has led to increased contracting opportunities in Portland. With more than 20 years of experience working for the City, she understands its inner workings and will be a strong, collaborative leader. She is as real as they come, and I strongly support Tiffani Penson for City Council, District 2.
