Tiffani’s Platform

Portlanders deserve a city that works – one that is clean, safe, and livable. Having experienced city bureaucracy up close as a city employee of more than twenty years and working in four different bureaus, Tiffani knows how to cut through red tape to get things done. As a matter of fact, it’s what inspired her run for City Council.

Tiffani knows there is a better way AND she knows how to get things done – because she’s done it!

A Safe and Livable City

Anyone in Portland can see that we are not taking care of our community. That’s the truth! It’s time we get to work to clean up our public spaces and make our neighborhoods safe places where we can live, work and play.

  • As your City Councilor, I will get us back to delivering basic services. We must focus on cleaning and clearing rights of way, removing trash, garbage, and graffiti, and keeping our neighborhoods safe. I will fund Portland-specific innovations and programs, like Problem Solvers, that cut through bureaucratic red tape to clean up and solve urgent issues that are present in our community. By working together, the Problem Solver network addresses community challenges in a comprehensive, creative, and timely manner while maintaining a strong sense of urgency and accountability.

  • A safe city means our 911 system works. We know our system is not working as well as it could. Both our non-emergency calls and emergency call response times can be improved. As your next City Councilor, I will allocate resources to adequately staff, train, and support our emergency workers and first responders.

  • We must address gun violence. Gun violence is preventable, and we must do more. As your next City Councilor, I will fund the programs that have been proven to reduce gun violence. I will ensure the city is actively at the table with local, state, and federal elected officials to fund and pass gun violence prevention legislation.

A Home for Everyone

That’s the goal, that everyone in our city has a safe place to call home. We can and must do more. Our region has more money per capita to help us deal with our unhoused neighbors than anywhere else in the nation, yet we are still seeing great need for housing and services.

While no one person or government can solve this crisis, my relationships across the region and leadership in collaborative problem-solving will move us forward in solving our housing crisis.

  • As your next City Councilor, I will reduce the number of families moving to the streets by increasing housing and support services for families who are rent-burdened. With effective leadership and with the support of the state legislature, we can do more to fund housing vouchers, rent assistance programs, and support landlords in housing our vulnerable families.

  • I will work closely with our local partners to ensure we’re doing the most with the funds we have for emergency, transitional, and affordable housing and support services.

  • As your next City Councilor, I will further the work of the City to cut red tape, streamlining our development process and evaluate creative solutions to increase housing options.

A Strong Economy and Skilled Workforce

A thriving economy demands we have a safe city, a strong workforce, and streamlined processes to do business in our city. That’s not the case today, but I know the problems we face are solvable.

  • Portland is losing the small businesses we love. Businesses cannot operate if their surroundings are not clean and safe. At the city, I’ve worked to fast-track solving these problems through the Portland Problem Solver network. It’s producing real results. As your City Councilor, I will work to expand the model. Anchored in local communities, Problem Solvers delivers livability-related solutions to community members and small business owners across Portland by efficiently coordinating established City resources.

  • To thrive, our businesses need the ability to meet the requirements of doing business in our city quickly and efficiently. As your City Councilor, I will work to add small businesses liaison staff to help new and expanding businesses move through the city's requirements.

  • The Portland economy cannot operate without a skilled and qualified workforce. I’ve witnessed firsthand the value of creating access to education, apprenticeships, internships and removing barriers for people reentering the workforce. As your City Councilor, I will ensure the city is partnering to build a workforce pipeline so that everyone has access to family-wage jobs, good benefits, and safe working conditions.

An Accessible and Accountable Budget

Creating a safe, livable, and prosperous city now and for the future depends on how we use our budget. Our budget needs to be more accessible to the public, meet the needs of our neighborhoods, and reflect the values of our community. I believe Portlanders need to have a voice in our budget decisions.

  • Portlanders deserve a budget that is easily and clearly understandable and to have a voice in how taxpayer dollars are spent. As your next City Councilor, my office will publish an annual “Portland Budget Facts Report,” providing -- in plain language -- how the city is proposing to use the taxpayer funds and how you can best make your voice heard in the process.

  • Our budget needs to focus on services, not bureaus. As your next City Councilor, I will work to ensure our budget is focused on the services the public wants us to deliver.

I love this city. As a kid, my parents taught me that everyone has a responsibility and an opportunity to make life better for not only ourselves, but our neighbors too. I’ve spent my life working for this city. I’m passionate about Portland and committed to making Portland work again. That’s why I’m running and why I’d be honored to earn your vote.
